Hi everyone! I'm Liz, your Safe Space Captain! I use she/her pronouns. I have been given the privilege of providing support to anyone at GLX that may need it. Ensuring the wellness of others is my life's work and passion! I graduated with my master's in mental health counseling in May of 2019. I have over 1,000 hours of clinical experience, with a specialty in crisis intervention and the impacts of trauma. In addition to this, I've had training in bystander intervention, creating safe spaces, and peacebuilding. I'm here to ensure that you feel safe and comfortable at our event and to help you resolve any conflict that might arise.
What can I contact a safe space captain about? I am available to process anything that happens during GLX that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsure, or unsafe. Want me to mediate a conversation between you and someone else? I can do that! Want me to talk to someone for you, keeping your identity anonymous? I'm here for you. Is there a situation you want me to just keep an eye on throughout the night? I'm your girl! Not sure what you want or need? Come talk to me, we'll figure it out together.
We can talk about anything that makes you feel uncomfortable during GLX! This could include: -unwanted comments about yours or others' body/appearance -unwanted comments about yours or others' gender identity -unwanted comments about yours or others' sexual orientation -unwanted comments about your or others' race -unwanted comments about yours or others' ethnic background -unwanted comments about yours or others' religious or spiritual beliefs -unwanted comments about yours or others' socioeconomic status -unwanted comments about yours or others' ability -unwanted sexual comments -unwanted touching -anything else that makes you feel threatened, uncomfortable, or unsafe
How can I contact them? - I will be attending GLX and will be present at as many events as I can be! Feel free to come up and talk to me at anytime! - [email protected] -(352) 327-8215
